Kansas Family Portrait Photographers | The Donut Whole

Kansas Family Portrait Photographers | The Donut Whole

As family portrait photographers, we always emphasis the importance of capturing your family’s portrait often. One reason why we say that is because you never know just how long you may have each other. Life can take a turn at any moment…..which is exactly what happened with this small family. On a routine drive to work, Josh came in contact with a semi truck at 70 some mph and was lucky enough to be able to walk away with minor injuries. Brandi and baby Gabriel rejoiced in the fact that they where able to welcome their husband/dad home and realized now may be the time to capture THIS moment in their family’s life. Andrea soon received a text message asking for a photo shoot.

The shoot started out in a park and then ended at a Wichita coffee shop – The Donut Whole. Come to find out, it’s one of Josh’s favorite spots to stop by before work and pick up a cup of joe and a sweet bite. So we bought a box of donuts and started shooting. You live once, freeze the precious moments while you can.

Destination Portrait & Wedding Photographer | Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Getting into destination wedding photography is one of Andrea and I’s big goals for Photobox Studios. It’s a great mix of travel photography (that I adore) and wedding photography. What more could you want than shooting a couple in love in a beautiful destination? In order to get my feet wet a bit, I took advantage of this gorgeous location in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico and did a family portrait session on the beach. This was my fourth trip to Vallarta and I think this was the best beach yet! It had the blue/green water, private white sand beaches and big waves. This shoot was so fun!

If you are someone that has thought about having a family portrait session, don’t hesitate! You never know if you’ll have another chance and you want to capture that time in you family’s life because it will never stay the same. Life will carry on. For the Villegas family, Javier (my husband) was visiting Mexico for a couple weeks and would be heading back home soon, beautiful Laura had to go off to college the instant she got back to central Mexico and cutie Diego wasn’t going to stay 2 years old for much longer. AND how often do you get the whole family together for a family vacation to Puerto Vallarta?! Like never! Document the moments. What better time then the now.

Travel Photography | Tequila Tour In Jalisco Mexico

Travel Photography | Tequila Tour in Jalisco Mexico

Last month I took a week long trip to Mexico. I needed a vacation. What was originally suppose to be an even longer trip to Argentina turned more budget friendly to Mexico…..the idea of laying on the beach won over I guess. Javier and I hopped on a plane and flew into central Mexico, met up with family and started the long journey across the country to the Pacific ocean. To make the journey more entertaining (aka this gringa wanted to see some sites!) we stopped in the town of Tequila! Yes, it’s a town called Tequila and it’s filled with tequila! I imagined frolicking through fields of turquoise agave plants but it was more like a long walk through a very Mexican town and tequila factory. From past trips across western Mexico I have always thought the flowing hills of agave plants were so beautiful! But sampling many different types of tequila inside a factory was just as fun.

The factory worker took us through the long process of making the tequila. Let’s just say there is some chipping away at the plant, steaming it, letting it sit to get any bad bacteria out and then letting it age in a barrel. The last part of the tour was the best part. Samples! They had 5 jugs lined up at a table, each at a different age. Did you know that the longer it sits in a barrel the more dark and less potent it gets? The clear liquid on the far right (see image #5 below) was straight from the plant, no aging. It’s about 55 proof so it’s normally not sold. Can you imagine? The darkest and furthest to the left was 5+ years and it went down smooooooth. I had just a few small shots and I was feeling happy…….and then I bought two bottles. hahah And yes, you could even buy that big jug, no joke! When in Tequila right?

After the tour we went back to the center of town and stopped by a market for lunch. It was there that I got my chilaquiles that I had been craving. After the whole family was filled and content, we were back on the bright blue agave field roads and headed to Puerto Vallarta in exchange for the bright blue endless sea.

Thanks again to our friend Jennifer over at Fleur De Lis Photography for allowing us the chance to come along with you on this Kingman wedding to help photograph your friends as a 2nd shooter. Even though it rained the whole morning of the wedding and included tornado sirens, the day was a success! Hurry and take the photos before a twister comes! I joke. Congrats Kyleigh and Cody!

Kansas Senior Pictures | Sonia R.

Sonia came into Wichita, Kansas to visit family for Thanksgiving break and a family member wanted to buy her a Senior Portrait Mini Session as a graduation gift. We jumped on the occasion and headed downtown on a cold windy morning. Sonia worked it even though I’m sure she couldn’t feel her fingers or the tip of her nose. Funny story though – when I asked if she had any change of clothes or accessories she wanted in the shoot, she continued by saying what I thought was “no, but I thought about bringing my cat.” I replied “oh how cute! A cat. That would have been interesting.” She smiled and laughed and 2 minutes down the street I realized….”Ohhh you said CAP!”  Doh! Insert instant embarrassment and a laughing sister/2nd shooter Andrea. Sonia, glad you played along with my bad hearing and I hope you had a fun time with us. Good luck in your future studies and don’t forget your cat this time!:-)
